Yes that's right, Americans in Madison, with representatives from 12 nations in attendance. I thought I'd seen it all, but kite flying on ice, you must be joking? What will they come up with next? ( best not answer that one! )

Sounds strange but it look's like a lot of fun!

Takes me all my time staying upright at the best of times, without trying to fly a kite whilst keeping balanced on
ice!

As in many Asian countries kites can be purchased for about $1 from one of many street traders, as shown opposite, often the whole family work long hours to earn a meager living.









A scene played out on many a seashore, a couple enjoy the pleasure of flying a kite as the day draws to a close, with the waves gently breaking on the beach

Beautiful hand crafted kites from Abul in Bali, most of these traditional kites are made from bamboo and either paper or silk and sell for just a couple of dollars.












The problem comes however in getting such delicate kites home in one piece, especially if they have to be placed with the luggage during the flight.
